Natural Hair: Scalp Conditioning with Honey

Heey! This is a great recipe I wanted to share. My hair loves honey!! It really softens and adds an incredible shine. 🙂 This is a little modification from a previous post I did because this one focuses more on scalp stimulation. Scalp stimulation = Hair growth!! Ye– Ah!! 🙂

Scalp Hair Treatment with Honey

2 tablespoons jojoba oil
2 teaspoons honey
3 drops rosemary essential oil
3 drops sandalwood essential oil

This deep conditioning treatment is beneficial for your hair and your scalp.

Combine jojoba oil and honey in a small bowl, and gently heat in the microwave in 20 second increments until you reach a comfortably warm temperature. Add rosemary and sandalwood essential oils.

Dampen your hair and scalp with warm water.

Massage the warm oil mixture into your scalp with your fingertips, working the oil through your hair all the way to the ends.

Cover your hair with a shower cap and a hot, damp towel to help the oils penetrate more deeply. Leave in place for 30 minutes, replacing the hot towel as it cools. ( OR use your favorite deep conditioning/steaming cap)

Shampoo and, follow with conditioner if necessary.

Natural Hair::No Love for Bi-racials because they have “Good Hair”??

Heeey!! I was just watching a few videos on Youtube of Taren916 and African Export , discussing an issue that has landed in the Natural Hair Community AGAIN. I typically have no comment on issues about hair.. other than actual factual stuff like scientific things on how to grow hair  .. anywho..

In my opinion, this debate is another way to divide WOMEN,  black, white, mixed, and OTHER. I do understand that some people can not let it go and still have complexes about “who they really are”.

My personal hair journey led me to self acceptance of ME and my kinky hair.  I just wish the day will come that we all get along and these issues of nappy hair, kinky hair, bad hair, good hair, that white girl hair will fall away.

It’s JUST HAIR.. it’s not a movement.. Women who embrace their natural hair and support each other by giving tips, tricks, and kudos, is a COMMUNITY.. not a movement, a movement excludes and leaves out those who do not belong in a certain box.

Watch the videos and tell me what you think. I’m not stirring the pot, I just wanna know if my rose colored glasses are fogging up again…

Can’t we all just get along? 🙂 You have natural hair? Good for you. You relax your hair? Good for you. You are bald? Good for you! …..:)

Thumbs up to AfricanExport on her comments..  Well said. 😉

Daily Kiss::Preach?

I don’t feel like I need to preach to the world or nothing like that. I just feel like I share what I say, and if listeners get it, they get it. And I never underestimate the audience’s ability to feel me. ~ Erykah Badu ( and me) 😉

Kisses for your Soul Series:Vol 1:How to get HAPPY!

Hey!  This post is the first in a series I am going to start adding here on ETJ. It’s my goal to spread messages of hope and empowerment to the world, one person at a time.  I hope this post helps and adds some spark to your life! 🙂

1) Love yourself first! If you do not love yourself, how will others know how to love you?

2) Stay True to who you are. There is only ONE you for a reason. Be your true authentic self.

3) Surround yourself with Happy people. If you are the only happy one in your circle of friends, your circle will soon have none.

4) Read/watch/listen to something encouraging before you go to bed. Avoid going to bed angry or worried. What you sleep with, you wake up with. Being happy during the day starts the night before.

5) Happy is a choice. Make the decision to get happy and you will. Set your intentions to make someone smile or giggle every day and before you know it, it becomes natural and happy shows up automatically in your life.

Daily Kiss:Sail Away

Natural hair:4 Quick Tips::Vol. 1

Heeey !!      Just thought I ‘d run down a few tips that I discovered along my journey to healthy, natural hair… ..

1) Water, Water, Water!

Inside and Out is good for your hair. Drink it up and   Pour it on. Your hair will LOVE IT!

2) Make sure your hands are clean before styling your hair.

For instance, if you cleaned your tub/shower with a typical bathroom cleanser  without wearing gloves. BEWARE: the chemicals left on your hands may reactivate with water or your styling products. NOT GOOD for your mane.

3) Make sure your nails have no snags. One nail that is not properly manicured could create a frizzy mess. Imagine your nails acting like a fine toothed comb to your curls. YIKES! Maybe it’s not your regimen or products that need trimming, it’s your nails.

4) Avoid towels when drying your hair.

Towels are made of cotton.  The fabric tends to be very harsh on the hair.

Wrap the t-shirt around your hair like you would a towel

Grab a t-shirt instead. The fibers are smoother and yet they soak up the water nicely. Less frizz is the result.
